Playing in his first World Pool Masters event since 1998 when he went out at the quarter-final stage to Earl Strickland, is snooker genius Ronnie O’Sullivan. The Rocket’s decision to take up pool in a serious manner his year has been met with excitement all around the world. A shrinking snooker calendar as well as a desire to prove himself at all disciplines has lead O’Sullivan to purchase a Predator cue and start practising in earnest.

His career as a snooker player has delivered plenty of headlines and not all about his instinctive natural ability. However, at 30 years of age, O’Sullivan has matured a lot of late and his decision to take up top class pool from scratch may be part of that.

His progress in the game may be all about how quickly he can pick up the tactical nuances as his ability as a cueman in unparalleled. He plays double World Champion Wu in the opening round which should prove to be the sternest of tests for both players.
