sunk the winning ball in 2002.
A legend in the world of cue sports, Davis dominated snooker
through the 1980’s, making himself a rich man in the process
as he won six World Championships and six UK Championships. Whilst
he still plays top level snooker – he is currently ranked
11th in the world following a trip to the final of the UK in
November 05 - Davis has a part-time career in 9-ball pool where
he has had some success since first becoming involved in the
sport in the early 90’s.
Career highlights include a famous come-from-behind victory
against Efren Reyes en route to a quarter-final spot in the 2000
World Pool Championship and beating Earl Strickland to clinch
the 2002 Mosconi Cup for Europe.
Davis’ record at the Masters isn’t the best as he
tends to rely on playing himself into the tournament which won’t
be an option in Egmond. After 11 years as a Mosconi Cup regular,
Davis missed last year’s event at the MGM Grand in Las
Vegas following a date clash with the UK Snooker Championship.
He will need to have a superb season in order to claim that spot
back.
