Format
This year the World Pool Masters consists
of sixteen of the world’s
best players competing in a straight knockout single elimination
format.
Each match is a race to eight racks with alternate breaks. Players
will lag to determine the opening breaker.

Sanctioning
The 2006 PartyPoker.com World Pool Masters is sanctioned by the
World Pool Association which is the world governing body for pool
and administers the game at many levels across the globe.
Membership of the WPA is made up of continental members which currently
consists of Africa, Asia, Europe, North America Oceania and Latin
America and the Caribbean.
Individual national associations are in turn members of their
continental associations.
